Every race fan that is sick of the long winter spell should travel on over to the Deltaplex in Grand Rapids for Arena Racing indoors. These cars are very exciting 1/2 scale Sprint Cup cars. This weekend there will be 2 nights of racing on Friday and Saturday with a North-South shootout. There were originally 3 of these tracks in Charlotte, NC, Richmond VA and Grand Rapids, but it is a growing sport with another track in VA and one coming soon in Indiana. The 1/4 midgets have been added to the program on the 1/10th mile high bank indoor track. They really put on a great show for the fans and the Top Dog main event is something to see. Qualifying is at 3:30pm and then there is a pre-race party with $1.00 beer and $1.00 hotdogs from 5pm-7pm every week. There is also an on track autograph session during that time before the race. I have been there when they have RC cars during intermission and even racing riding lawnmowers (like Tim the Toolman). Really wild! There is always a surprise waiting for you at the event. Dave Sensiba, Kelsey Steele (Tim's daughter), Tim Phillips and Jay Niewiek are some of the top drivers.
